Ravi has some amount between Rs. 30 and Rs. 40; While Mihir has some amount between Rs. 40 and Rs. 50. The amount with each of them is a prime number. What amount should Mihir give to Ravi so as to make their amounts equal to each other, and still remain a prime number?

Options

  1. a.

    1

  2. b.

    6

    Correct answer
  3. c.

    5

  4. d.

    8

Explanation

Ravi has a prime number amount between Rs. 30 and Rs. 40 i.e. 31 or 37.

Mihir has a prime number amount between Rs. 40 and Rs. 50 i.e. 41, 43 or 47.

The only way in which Mihir can give some money to Ravi making their amounts equal and still be prime numbers is if each of them has Rs. 37.

Hence, Ravi and Mihir originally should have Rs. 31 and Rs. 43 respectively.

Then Mihir should give Rs. 6 to Ravi.

Hence, Option (B).
