Let x, y be the volumes; m, n be the masses of two metallic cubes P and Q respectively. Each side of Q is two times that of P and mass of Q is two times that of P. Let u = m / x and V = n / y. which one or the following is correct?

Let x, y be the volumes; m, n be the masses of two metallic cubes P and Q respectively. Each side of Q is two times that of P and mass of Q is two times that of P. Let u = m / x and V = n / y. which one or the following is correct?

Options

  1. a.

    u = 4v

    Correct answer
  2. b.

    u = 2v

  3. c.

    v = u

  4. d.

    v = 4u

Explanation

Let the side of P = a, so the side of Q = 2a. Volume of P (x) = a3 volume of Q (y) = 8a3 Also, It is given that, mass of P (m) = u × X = u × a3 ….. (1) and Mass of Q (n) = v × y = v × 8a3 …..(2) It is also given that Mass of Q (n) = 2 × mass of P (m). So, by using equations 1 and 2 we have v × 8a3 = 2 × u × a3 4v = u. So option (a) is correct.
